In the year marking the tenth anniversary of their reunion, necrotic death metal band AntropomorphiA release the first single from their new album entitled ‘Merciless Savagery’. Due for release on the 5th of April via Metal Blade Records, ‘Merciless Savagery’ is set to be a dark album filled with infectious riffs and ‘a ‘fuck you’ to a mostly repetitive scene’.

Recorded at Aftermath Studios and produced by drummer Marco Stubbe, are set to deliver an extreme metal opus that more than maintains the high standard of brutal that we have come to expect from the band. Building further upon the monstrous sounds of their 2017 release entitled ‘Sermon Ov Wrath’, from what we have heard so far, ‘Merciless Savagery’ more than lives up to its name attacking with unrepentant ferocity.

Holding nothing back AntropomorphiA frontman explained that, ‘Sermon Ov Wrath‘ was our most raw and honest statement and an album where we transcended certain genre limitations, capturing the essence of AntropomorphiA, and I would say the new record’s atmosphere is darker, heavier and more punishing, but still has hooky riffs and grooves. I think it’s the logical step forward. It’s a different chapter, even more diverse while being very cohesive, but you can immediately hear it’s AntropomorphiA.

Interestingly, following on from the president set with ‘Sermon Ov Wrath’, ‘Merciless Savagery’ is set to feature a guest performance from Farida Lemouchi of The Devil’s Blood and Molasses fame to provide an extra dimension of despair on the track ‘Luciferian Tempest’. Commenting on the addition of female vocals Ferry Damen notes that, ‘I think our fans know what to expect from us, they know our sound and know that we are not that generic extreme metal band … We paint with a dark pallet, but we paint with lots of shades of darkness’.

‘Merciless Savagery’ will also be the first album to feature ex-Villainy bassist Jeroen Pleunis on low end duty following the amicable departure of Marc van Stiphout. Commenting on the change, the band recently announced that ‘Marc parts ways with us with no hardship or ill will. Marc’s follow up is Jeroen Pleunis (ex-Villainy), Jeroen is no stranger to the band and he will bring his talent and raging madness to our fold. As the landscape changes a new era begins, gates will open and spew forth a beast of hellish ferociousness’.
