Combining the raw ferocity of black metal with hardcore-esque vocal stylings, few artists are able to produce intense waves of emotion quite like A Secret Revealed. Transcending the easy notions of genre, this band contrast their atmospheric take on melancholic melody with a vocal style that forces you to stay in the here and now. Instead of allowing your mind to drift through their bleak landscapes the band make sure that you listen to what they have to say.

Forming in 2012 in Würzburg Germany, the band initially released ‘Lay My Memories to Rest’ before taking their time to cement their sound with their 2015 release entitled ‘The Bleakness’. With an uncanny ability to lose the listener in a thick fog of futility, ‘The Bleakness’ is noted by fans and critics alike for its unapologetically depressing subject matter. Remaining relatively stable during the ensuing tour cycle, the band ultimately parted ways with vocalist Paul Motz before recruiting ex-Necrotted vocalist Michael Heim. Bringing a wealth of experience as well as an increased vocal range, 2017 saw the band lay the foundations of their sophomore sound with the release of ‘Grieved’. Working to push their sound even further, the band have also signed a new deal with Lifeforce Records that will see the bands second album ‘Sacrifices’ released on the 25th of January 2019.

In preparation for the album’s release, the band have today unveiled a brand-new music video for their new track entitled ‘Empty Throne’ via Metal.de. Demonstrating a high level of intensity, the thing that stands out the most is the incredible control and nuanced variety that new singer Heim displays in his voice. leaning more towards a metal delivery than a hardcore one, it’s possible that some fans may be turned away. However, we at Metal Mashup are loving this new take and can’t wait to hear more.
