Having lost our collective shit at the prospect of a new band aesthetic, we are now in a position to calmly process the situation and look on in wonder as the next evolution of Slipknot unfolds before our eyes. Following the initial post that sent the community ablaze with questions on his Instagram, Corey later announced that he is working with the acclaimed horror special effects artist Tom Savini.

Having previously worked with a number of artists including Japanese special effects artist Screaming Mad George, Taylor made the decision to work the legend of the industry responcible for The Dawn Of The Dead, Day Of The Dead and Friday 13th, Corey told the Let There Be Talk podcast that ‘He’s the the godfather to me … Got to hang out with him, got to talk with him. Met him through a friend who actually works with him. And the three of us were kind of developing this new mask together so I’m kind of fuckin’ chuffed on that’.

Making use of the increased transparency provided by social media to give fans a unique insight into the creation of the new masks Corey returned to Instagram to post the following message. ‘Since I can’t show you the mask yet… here’s what we go through to have them made.’ In the post below we can see the front man sporting a nice binbag whilst the team begin the moulding process.
