Here at Metal Mashup we love to celebrate those that step outside the norm to deliver something truly unique. Combining UK grime with a djenty blend of metal core Hacktivist is band that achieves this feat on the daily. Rising from London’s underground metal scene, Hacktivist have taken the scene by storm gathering fans from across the metal landscape. Redefining the now defunct and outdated term ‘rap metal’ with their 2012 self-titled EP, Hacktivist burst onto the scene with ultra-low guitars and lyrical ferocity that focuses on government corruption, anti-gun violence and other social/economic issues.

After helping the band rise during their seven years together, original guitarist Timfy James took the hard decision to leave the band back in March of 2018. Ending his tenure with one last hurrah at a home town show, Timfy’s departure ultimately left the band one guitarist short. At the time the band made the announcement that, ‘We’re sad to see Timfy’s time with Hacktivist has come to an end, but we wish the best of luck with his future plans. We want to thank him profusely for the blood, sweat and tears he has put into the band over the past seven years. Timfy has been a driving force in defining the Hacktivist sound, but his departure brings with it the dawn of new ideas and forward thinking. None of this year’s shows will be cancelled, and you will be hearing from us soon with fresh new music.’

Carrying on through the rest of 2018 with guest spot guitarists, the band took to Facebook to announce that after months of working towards the release of a new album, Hacktivist have found their new full-time member in James Hewitt. Excited with the new addition the band posted that ‘We are beyond excited and proud to FINALLY be able to announce our new guitarist & producer JAMES HEWITT! After months of writing/recording sessions together (and a few stealthy gigs he's already ripped apart with us) we are more than sure that THIS is Hacktivist! Things will be kicking off with a UK tour for ‘Independent Music Venue Week’ starting on the 28th of Jan where we will be playing some new material (Tickets: http://hacktivist.uk.com) leading into a volley of new music and videos starting early February, with some overseas shows already confirmed and many more to be announced... We can’t thank you enough for sticking by us as we have undertaken this reprogramming of Hacktivist, enabling us to bring you the sound & energy you all deserve.. See you in the pit!!!!’
