Bringing the breakdowns with more sequels than a slaughter house, progressive metallers After The Burial return with a new single ahead of their new album entitled ‘Evergreen’. Due for release on the 19th of April just in time for their tour with Parkway Drive and Killswitch Engage, ‘Evergreen’ is set to be the band’s sixth full length studio album.
Unofficially dubbed ’The Snowball Song’ (for reasons we will get into later) ‘Behold The Crown’ was first heard on via SiriusXM’s ‘Liquid Metal’ radio show before inevitably leaking online along with a few guarded details about the album. Refusing to allow a few radio rips to steal their thunder, the band have now officially announced ‘Evergreen’ and have released a new music video in celebration.
In speaking of the new album guitarist Trent Hafdahl has stated that, ‘the song-writing process is almost always the same, but the influence and motivation behind the music is always different. This time around we wrote an album that is wholeheartedly ATB. If you listen back through our catalog you can hear us experimenting with different sounds, soundscapes, playing techniques etc. Some of those have stood the test of time and are still used in our music today, and some were left behind because they didn't really fit us. I feel very strongly that this album is OUR sound.
Continuing, ‘our fans could hear this anywhere, without any reference, and say 'that sounds like an After The Burial riff.' I guess you could say it's a more mature release this time around because we weren't stretching to experiment with stuff that we didn't know would work. It's heavy, it's melodic, it's slow at times and fast at others. It's intense and free-flowing all in the same instance’.
Answering the curious question of what the casting call was for, the released music video has already become a Mashup classic earning a spot on the sites home page. Directed by Erez Bader of Silent Flight Productions, the visualisation of ‘Behold The Crown’ depicts the most violent snowball fight you are likely to ever witness. Complete with chainmail, steel-plate armour and carnage aplenty we urge you to watch the video with as many people as you can muster to truly appreciate the gift that After The Burial has given.
As we mentioned above, ‘Evergreen’ will be available for purchase on the 19th of April via Sumerian Records.
