Composed as a single 83-minute funeral song, ‘Mirror Reaper’ is as dark as it is beautiful. Fuelled by the death of founding member Adrian Guerra, ‘Mirror Reaper’ is especially bleak, composed in the heavy light of desperate grief. It’s an album whereby the emotional weight is so dense that ‘Mirror Reaper’ has the potential to envelope the listener in sorrow so thick, it can seem impossible to shake.
Released In 2017, ‘Mirror Reaper’ found widespread acclaim with many holding the album as the bastion of Funeral Doom. And as if the album wasn’t enough on its own, Bell Witch have now released an official visualisation of the album that will be accompanying the band of their upcoming European tour. Made up of a collection of both archival footage and clips taken from several cinematic classics such as ‘Dementia – 1955’, ‘The Screaming Skull – 1958’ and ‘Dementia 13 – 1963’, this film is the perfect accompaniment that matches each musical moment beat for drawn out beat.
Created by Taylor Bednarz, the movie provides a truly unique and somewhat harrowing experience of the album that all fans will find enjoyment with. Perhaps enjoyment is not the right word to use but bassist Dylan Desmond had this to say, Taylor Bednarz created a fantastic film to fit ‘Mirror Reaper’ using exclusively archived footage. During the writing process it became evident to us that the music invited a visual aspect. Bednarz’s interpretation captures much of the emotion we were trying to convey during the song and we are proud of the collaboration with him.’
